Fear is the normal emotional reaction humans and animals have when they encounter the unknown or something that poses a perceived threat.

The more one knows about, the less there is to be afraid of.

Being afraid of the dark is common because the darkness hides and conceals things; it is the concealer of knowledge about the environment.

Fear of death is common because we typically think no one has died and come back, save for some religious figures, to tell us what it is like to die.

Fears can consume us in everyday environments if we manifest beliefs about the presence of that which we are afraid, be it microbiological or found in social interaction.

Some people are afraid of not performing certain rituals of washing or modes of walking so as to not affect other people or parts of reality that have little to do with the situation at hand.

Fear is a human emotion that allows other humans to control them.

Slaves are afraid of their masters.

Whoever you fear is your master. One with no fear is one with no master.

A slave who isn't afraid isn't a slave.

Fear is the most important emotion we must, as a species, overcome if we are to ever have a peaceful and just society.

Fear of death and fear of harm drive us to do things we do not want to do or things we know are wrong.

Fear is a primal emotion and an animal emotion.

It is the most basic of human emotions.

Fear can be overcome through exposure and a willing desire to taste small samples of that which causes the fear; be it height or intimacy or snakes or spiders.

Fear never seems to be very useful except in circumstances where it keeps us from making decisions that would otherwise result in our loss of organized complexity.

Such as the loss of organization one would encounter after having jumped from the precipice of a canyon or building.
