severe pain

Severe pain is just one segment lesser than the concept of unbearable pain but it can just as easily be a cause for severe depression or negative thoughts and emotions like anger even in situations that do not warrant it.

Severe mental pain could be likened to a deep depression, overwhelming anxiety, or the strange and uncomfortable feeling that can accompany a psychotropic medications negative side effects.

Severe physical pain, like spinal pain, very inflamed arthritic pain, or the pain from certain cancers, can be a source for corresponding mental pain and sometimes this can be vice-versa.

In some very depressed states, the body can become riddled with aches and soreness in joints and it can cause headaches and digestion problems as the brain begins to loose its ability to properly regulate various chemicals and processes that would normally keep the body out of such painful states.

Severe pain is debilitating and it makes life unenjoyable to a degree that, in many cases, begins to affect she or he who suffers in ways that rob them of their former lives.

With severe pain, medications can be utilized or employed to mitigate or, hopefully, completely remove the experience of pain from a suffering individual.

However, many medications must be increased and some, like the various forms of opioids, eventually do not work as well when the body slowly but surely begins building a tolerance to the substances used for the pain.

The term "severe pain" does not necessarily refer to chronic pain but only to a state of experiencing pain for a moment and, in some cases, a series of moments that can qualify it as chronic.

Also, it does not necessarily refer to either physical or mental pain because, as I have mentioned earlier on this page, one can cause the other quite reacily and the two may accompany each other simultaneously as the afflicted individual may certainly become depressed or even suicidal about the lack of abilities they formerly had now that this mental or physical pain is preventing them from doing any number of particular activities.

Maybe the physical pain prevents normal walking as the pain is in the knees or back.

Perhaps the severe pain is mental and it prevents the individual from being social or pursuing a friendship or a romantic relationship.

In many cases, one who suffers from some form of severe pain can push people away not because they want to but because they are made darker and stranger by their suffering.
